Dear Customer,
There is something fascinating about vintage violins that are more than 100 years old. Not only do they tell a story but they often underscore just how much things have evolved that affect our daily playing.
A century ago strings were mainly made from gut. You would have found them on everyones instrument and they would have been used to play a wide range of music from classical to fiddling to Irish rogue.
The strings we see now come in a variety of windings and metals from titanium to perlon and tungsten. They are more durable, stable and longer lasting than the older style gut. They too, however, are based on a design more than a century old.
While you are enjoying playing on your new strings you can speculate on which strings patented in the last few years continue to be our favorites.
Thanks for shopping from all of us at Cassandra Strings!
