Lothar Semmlinger was born in Langensendelbach (Germany). He worked under the direction of Master Albert Lang. He also worked with Karl Hofner, improving his knowledge and skills. In 1975, when he finished his studies he got the title of "Master Craftsman of Bow Instruments" of the craftsmen Chamber of Numberg. He worked as a master for four years in Mohrendorf, and in 1980 he opened his own workshop in Baiersdorf; which is as well known as Mittenwald for its instruments. He started to build his own instruments and continued working with Benedikt Lang. By 1994 he was managing the work of the Lang Company. He started to build high quality instruments with his two sons Stefan and Christian, as well as two assistants. Semmlinger's instruments are characterized for their deep acoustic sound and power.
This instrument is set up with excellent quality ebony pegs, Akousticus composite tailpiece with 4 built in fine tuners, Larsen Original A & D strings, Thomastik Spirocore Tungsten G & C strings, and a high quality French bridge.
