Cassandra Strings Warranty on Instruments and Accessories

A one-year limited warranty applies only to the original purchaser of a Cassandra Strings, Inc. Instrument:

  • Strings are not covered by warranty.

  • A limited one-year warranty covers pegs, chinrests, endpins, and tailpieces.

  • Bridges are covered by a limited three-month warranty.

  • Damage caused by neglect or misuse is not covered, including exposure to excessive heat, cold, dryness, or moisture: see specifications below.

  • Normal wear caused by normal use is not covered by warranty.

  • Instrument adjustments are not covered by warranty.

  • Warranty is void if a customer or unauthorized repair person performs any repair, attempted or completed.

  • Seam openings are a common, natural occurrence and are not considered a defect. Cassandra Strings, Inc. uses only natural hide glue to ensure that seasonal swelling and shrinking of wood will result in simple seam openings rather than damaging cracks in the instrument’s face. Maintaining a 40-70% humidity level and a consistent temperature (55-90°F) are the best ways to avoid seam openings and cracks; exposure to conditions outside these specified constitutes neglect.

  • Hair itself is not covered by warranty, only its installation (ex: original hair falling out is covered; original hair breakage is not) for up to six months.

  • Damage caused by neglect or misuse is not covered by warranty.

  • Normal wear or damage caused by normal use is not covered by warranty.

  • Warranty is void if a customer or unauthorized repair person performs any repair, attempted or completed.

  • Under normal use, tip plates are covered by warranty for up to one year or the first re-hair, whichever comes first.

  • Warpage of wood bows is not covered by warranty under any circumstance.

  • Carbon fiber bows are warranted for life against warpage or breaking.

  • The finish on carbon fiber bows is covered for one year.

  • Normal wear or damage caused by normal use is not covered by warranty.

  • This or any Cassandra Strings, Inc. warranty does not cover instruments, bows, and personal property stored inside the case.

  • The finish on carbon fiber bows is covered for one year.

  • Repairs are warranted for one year from the date of service. 
  • Bridge steaming to fix warping and bow re-cambering is not covered under any warranty.
  • Cracks in instruments that are just glued and not cleated or patched in any way are not warranted.
Pricing Policies

Each instrument, bow, and case will be marked with a sticker or tag clearly stating the price for that item. Prices are not negotiable.

Prices for instruments and bows are carefully determined based upon the following:
1. Name and reputation of the maker
2. Origin- where the item was made {Italy, France, Germany, etc...}
3. Age
4. Condition
5. Overall appearance

Please note-account credit cannot be used toward consignment items, accessories, music, lessons, tax, and extended warranties.

Trade-in

Any instrument or bow purchased from Cassandra Strings, Inc. will be accepted for trade-in towards the purchase of a new or reconditioned, like, instrument or bow of equal or greater value. 100% of the purchase price of the original instrument or bow will be given as credit towards the purchase of a new or reconditioned instrument or bow, minus any recondition fees. Cassandra Strings, Inc. reserves the right to refuse to accept any instrument for trade because of damage, abuse, or repairs done by unauthorized persons. Trade-ins cannot be combined with any other credit offer, including rental credit. The owner of the instrument will be responsible for any repairs necessary to restore the trade-in instrument or bow into salable condition. Repair charges will be made according to rates in effect at the time of the repair.

Appraisals

Cassandra Strings offers written appraisals for insurance or donation purposes only. We do not write appraisals for use on sales of instruments.

Forms of Payment

Cassandra Strings accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Cash, and Check. Checks must have both the address and phone number written on them. A $30 fee applies for payment returned unpaid for any reason.

Financing

Financing is available; please inquire as to whether you qualify at the time of purchase.

Consignments

Cassandra Strings currently does not accept consignment instruments and bows.

In-Home Trials

Cassandra Strings offers complimentary one-week in-home trials of any bow or instrument.  A valid Credit Card and Drivers License/State ID is required. Anyone wanting to use this service must be at least 21 years of age. All trials must meet the approval of Cassandra Strings. If the item(s) on trial are not returned within the specified time frame agreed upon, Cassandra Strings reserves the right to charge the credit card on file the full price, regardless of the credit situation. Cassandra Strings only offers this to its local customers. We do not ship instruments, bows, or cases on approval or trial.
